DescriptionOAX 2025 pickup!I loved this cover to Gambit #1 when it came out but I only managed to snag the main Skroce version at the time. Situation corrected now with the OA! I love the little note Carlos includes here near Gambit's right foot that reads "Welcome back Steve!". Steve was away from Marvel for a brief sabbatical illustrating Youngblood and this was a warm way for Carlos to welcome him back to the fold. Social/Sharing |

*Cable #1 cover!...wait, which one?*
*Pacheco!....ayyyeeeeeee.*
yea that all happened, exactly like that. I'd videotape my comments if Bill allowed it, but I transcribed it anyways.
What a pickup, huge congrats brother!

I, I just woke up from a dream
Where Florida had to say goodbye
And I don't know Gambit monthly
But since I survived, I realized
Eranaga you go, that's your Pacheco
Some Remy's Jesus Merino
So I'ma Skroce you every line like it's the last line
Like it's the best time
If the role was Channing’s
I'd wanna be next to you
OA party was over
And Remy LeBeau was through
I'd wanna hold you just for a while
A line with a style
If the world was ending
I'd wanna be next Deadpool

It really is a perfect Gambit image from an artist and an era that feel essential to the X-books of the time. And it was beautiful in person at OAX!

Hell, if getting a cover in its original art form 30 years later is the price I have to pay for missing out on the $2.99 comic book version back when it was first published, that'saprice I'd willingly pay EVERY TIME!

Such a memorable image of the character right down to the cards and the krackle. Not to mention a wonderful pose! Stellar OAX pickup!

Dude I'm so jealous! How did you get a chance to walk around and look at stuff? Ha ha

Ha haHaha I did the rough math and I think I got 30 minutes combined of walking around time between the two show days :) And all of that was paying for and picking up pre-shows! Luckily I had this one pre-arranged and the other big pickup happened as a deal made at my own table!
