Description

Avenger is the companion of Hanna-Barbera's superhero, Birdman. Birdman was originally a Saturday morning cartoon in 1967 and 1968. As you can clearly tell, Avenger is a (Golden? Purple?) eagle. He would help Birdman fight the evil plots of various villains, and once was even a captive that had to be rescued.

Birdman would always cry out, "Biiiiirdman!!!" whenever he went off to do battle. In hindsight, that was a little bit silly since he was usually in his hideout by himself. But perhaps this would be the way he would wake up Avenger and get his feathered butt into gear. Yeah...now that I think of it, that would typically cause Avenger to screech. Almost like he was saying, "Yeah, yeah. I'm up! Get off my back, Bird-pretender".
