Description

When I had printed a scan of this piece I screwed up with the scale and was printed around 8"x11". So, I figured why not try coloring it. This was colored 100% with Alcohol Markers. This was my real first attempt at coloring fire. I also never colored a full figure of Doom before either. So, making the metal look like metal without using a silver paint pen was an interesting attempt. I am really pleased on how the background sky came out. It actually is a blend of three colors. The bottom is a light grey color then I transition to a blue grey color to a pale blue across the top.

When I met Alex Sinclair at NYCC last year, he colored a Doom scan I printed out. He also was surprised it was a scan btw. I told him I started trying out coloring. How I have a new appreciation for what goes into it. For the record I said I'm nowhere near as good as him. I wasn't saying that like we were peers. This is a hobby for me. He told me to keep at it. Well, I'm keeping at it. Trying to do better with every piece I color. If you look through this folder, you will see every attempt I take. I don't hide a thing. You see all my errors. My thought process in that is how can you improve if you hide your mistakes?

Sinclair is a good one to get advice from. Maybe Laura Martin too because she shows up with all the tools and can demonstrate some techniques. I like the tones in this one with armored knight vs armored knight.
