DescriptionDenys Cowan is one of those rare artists who has shaped the comics industry for decades, leaving a lasting influence through his visionary work. His style is instantly recognizable, expressive, intense, and uniquely his own, blending raw energy with impeccable storytelling. From redefining The Question to co-founding Milestone Media, he has pushed the boundaries of what comics can be, bringing depth, grit, and a cinematic flair that stands apart from the rest. His work carries a sense of movement, every stroke alive with purpose, making even the quiet moments feel electric. I had the honor of meeting him at OAX in Orlando, where I picked up a commission he did for me of Howard Chaykins version of The Shadow. It was a treat to get to spend some time chatting with him, talking about art, and how I've followed his work for over 30 years. One of the great things about OAX and conventions in general is the chance to spend time with artists whose work you’ve admired for years. It’s a rare opportunity to see the people behind the pages, to hear their stories, and to get a glimpse into their creative process. Of course, keeping your composure and not slipping into full-on fanboy mode can be a challenge, but I do my best.Social/Sharing |

The detail on the hat and the collar lets you know this is done by Cowan and I am sure it looks even better in person.
Denys did some great pieces for OAX and I was lucky to meet him again and to get one as well.

I love how gritty this turned out! I can feel him emerging from the dust cloud. Banger of an acquisition Chuck!

Get Down for Denys! Cowan brings the pulp mystery look of The Shadow as a force of vengeance!

Fab request and result! I feel the same way about meeting one's art heroes. Congratulations on this cool Shadow! Wish I had one by Denys!
