Paul Smith - Green Goblin

This one took quite a while to get to me. Originally I'd purchased a Green Goblin piece that Smith had listed for sale on his website. As most fans of his art, know, once he puts up a piece it's usually gone very quickly. At the time, I had begun using the Nerdcrawler app which alerts you when new pieces by artists you follow are uploaded to their site or anywhere on the web you've registered to track. I happened to have my phone at that moment and immediately went to the site, saw the piece and put my order in. It went through, no issue, and I received my receipt for the purchase.

As the days went by, however, I realized something was wrong. It turned out that another fan had also clicked on the piece, possibly milliseconds before me and had also ordered it, but because of the website, both orders had registered. The piece was not mine. I wrote to Smith telling him of the problem, but got no response. I tried that a couple of times, to no avail.

After a bit more time, a friend of mine put me in touch with Smith's website/art helper who intervened on my behalf. Months and months went by with no movement. Eventually, a few months ago (after almost a year and a half from my purchase in Aug of 2023) an image showed up in my Facebook messenger. Whoo-hoo! Because of the wait, Smith had gone further and drew the large Gobin head in the background in addition to the new main figure. Awesome.

Well, that was not the final stage in getting the art..it still needed to be mailed. THAT took another few months and FINALLY, this week the piece arrived. It's a beautiful piece of art, but for whatever reason, the inks are faded. The image that was sent to me in the chat had dark black inks, which I can only assume were like that because they had been bumped up in Photoshop. Unless Smith had this piece sitting in the open sun for the last few months! Who knows...at any rate, it's finally here, somewhat faded, but it's still cool.

I've decided to keep the darker image as the main image here, the closer to actual, faded one is in the additional images.
