Special 19 was a fill-in strip, and used as a substitute strip if a local paper editorial team felt the strip of the day too political.

No comments on this Pogo strip, really? I love Walt Kelly's Pogo. The strip had a strong cast of characters, a marvelous sense of humor and sometimes, a lively commentary on the politics of the day. Beyond all this, it was probably the best drawn comic strip of its time other than Alex Raymond's Rip Kirby. Walt Kelly was the consumate artist who trained with the animators at Disney Studios. His talent with a brush was as strong as almost anyone working in the funny pages. I can look at any of his strips and happily revel in the artistry of the drawing. This is a beautiful example of his work and I, for one, love it.
