This is the final page of the story “Snappy Sammy Smoot” by underground comic artist Skip Williamson from the comic “Smoot No.1” published in 1995. In earlier pages Sammy’s soon to be wife, Thelma Louise, blows the minister’s brains out on the altar, then kills herself rather than marrying Smoot. When he keeps a part of her brain fashioned into a tie tack as a memento, she comes back to haunt him. Thelma Louise dictates a feminist manuscript that becomes a sensation. Smoot is sued by the lawyer his "dead near spouse" directed he hire and he ends up with nothing - except for the ‘shrooms. This page is full of early 1990s cultural references - Thelma and Louise and third-wave feminism, the FBI raid of the Waco Davidian compound, daytime talk shows, and the knife work of Lorena Bobbitt (Google it!).
