DescriptionInviting Marco to #OAX2025 gets to the essence of what Bill and Kasra are trying to do with their amazing show - highlighting incredible artists and connecting them with collectors. My friend Eranga shared the pre-show commission that Marco did for him and I immediately knew that I had to get in on the action. Communication with Marco was quick and easy thanks to OAX's well organized website and Marco's responsiveness, and I was excited to see what he came up with. I was not disappointed! What an incredible take on Galactus and his herald, that tells a complete story full of depth and emotion. I love the depictions of the Power Cosmic and the sheer inevitability of the World Devourer. In space, nobody can hear you scream. Bonus - I noticed that Marco's email client was set to Portuguese so I asked him where he was from, expecting to hear Brazil or Portugal. I was blown away to find out that he is originally Mozambican, where I served with the Peace Corps many moons ago. I was absolutely delighted to find an artist from that very special place. Boa gente indeed! Social/Sharing |

Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him
Wonder how many worlds he had loved and left haunted
But if he's Marco, then I can get commission
Cosmic art for ransom
Some, some boys are stylin' too hard
He don't try at all, though
Hunger OAX it but he act like such a fan, so
I see nothing better, I keep him forever
Like an Eranga, ha
I-I-I see how this is gon' go
Brush me and your Surfer be herald
I, I can tease with lights for sho’
Galactus to blow
In the Marvel of the night, in my screams
You should see the inks he do, baby (mmm)
Incredible are the lines, in my dreams
I know I'm gonna Peace with you
So I'll take my time
Are you Rudy for it?
Knew I had a hunger first time that he saw me
Stealing hearts and Surfing off and better say you call me
But if I'm a thief, then he can join the heist
And we'll move to an island, and
And he can be my jailer, Galan to this Surfer
Every love I've known in Mozambican is a failure
I forget their names now, I'm all Rudy paints now
Surfer be in space now, now

Marco somehow takes these characters that are already surreal (yet pretty solidly defined in our minds) and makes a surreal looking image of them. i had to zoom out and look at the thumbnail to even notice the Surfer at first after diving straight into the high rez scan zoomed in to look at the Galactus image more in depth. awesome piece

Marco was my pick for a new artist for 2025 I wanted to get a piece from at OAX and he did not dispaoint (last year it was Myles Wohl).
This Galactus and Surfer made me pause and look at it from different angles so I could take it all in. Great layout and color combinations. It has a killer background as well. Congrats.

Galactus and Silver Surfer are one of the ultimate "super couples" in the Marvel Universe, and it’s amazing that Marco’s portrayal of them has captured not just the scale and power of these iconic characters but also an emotional depth. The Power Cosmic is one of those things that can be difficult to convey, but Marco nailed it with his interpretation. It’s always special when an artwork not only captures the essence of a character but also conveys a story that resonates on a deeper level.
Speaking of which, the fact that this piece has a personal connection to you through Marco’s background makes it even more special. To find out that he’s from Mozambique, especially after you had such a unique experience there with the Peace Corps, must’ve been such a shocking surprise! It’s amazing how sometimes you can make these unexpected connections that just add layers of significance to an artwork. Congrats, man!

"It's not a tumor!" Intense! Rudy beautifully illustrates the enormous inner turmoil the Surfer was cursed with the day he sacrificed himself to save his own planet.

First it was Eranga. Then Ulan followed by Zia. Now a Marco. Who will helm the pen for Galactus next? I want to know!

"Boring" doesnt exist in Marco's lexicon. The inventiveness, design and colors on this all scream "EU SOU RUDY!" Fantastic addition to the Galactus collection!

This not only takes a look into the mind of Surfer, but it's an even better look into the mind of Marco Rudy. He nails the composition and color every single time and they are all mind blowing to me. This one literally.
