EverQuest Computer Game Preliminary Box Cover Dabner Drednever Drawing

This original 4.5" x 5" pencil on paper EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark drawing by fantasy illustrator Keith Parkinson was used as a preliminary character sketch during the creation of the 2000 expansion's box cover. The sketch shows the gnome cleric Dabner Drednever, complete with handlebar mustache and tinkering eyewear.

The shorter relatives of dwarves, gnomes reside in Ak'Anon, an underground city of ticking clockwork machines. Despite their diminutive size, they are an inquisitive and inventive people who excel at many forms of magic.

Along with his gnomish best friend and role model, Ognit Eznertob, Dabner travels under the protection of the barbarian Dagda Icefury, whom he secretly has feelings for and is eager to impress. A cleric of Brell Serilis, Dabner has also studied the other religions of Norrath to gain a better understanding of different races and cultures.
