Description
The fourth and final of my submissions for last years sketch opportunity. Couldn't be more happy with the set.

Another beautiful drawing here, with small details that might otherwise go unnoticed...like the different sizes of her pupils, giving it just a little bit of extra creepiness. The rendering on the hair, the crosshatching, it's all masterful.

I like to call Arthur's work 'tight but loose' a name given to Led Zeppelin's live performances..where while the band was tight musicianship wise, they could improvise and 'loosen' up within the framework of the arrangements...with Arthur's work, when you pull back it looks very highly detailed and meticulously rendered, which it is, but if you look closely, the line work is actually quite loose..there's a freshness and vitality to the line that lets the drawing breathe...it's not stiff and solid like some artists that work in a detailed style might have.

Like a fine wine, he's only getting better with age.

I like how he hides the logo that actually makes you look more at the hair.  Also, she rocks those bolts like fashion earrings!

Fantastic write up, Justin; a perfect summation of not only this piece but of Arthur's style and mad skillz (of which this cover is a perfect example).  SUCH a great call out on the eyes; it was the zipper-line of stitches along the length of her forehead that made my skin creep...  I know we all know what Dr. Frankenstein has a tendency to get up to inside a cranium, but seeing the "subtle" traces of that is pretty chilling.  And that hair!!  A beautiful, beautiful piece - what a pick up!  Huge congrats, Justin!
