Super pleased to add another major piece to the collection. By John Jude Palencar, he created this image for “The Return of the King” cover art as part of the 50th Anniversary collection of JRR Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” in 2005, published by Houghton Mifflin. The wrap around box art he created is already in my collection, so it’s nice to add one of the actual cover paintings as well. The set was meant to be an edition marketed towards a younger audience. This piece was also used as the back cover art and was included inside John’s art book, “Origins”, published the following year in 2006 by Underwood Books.

Exhibited: Canton Museum of Art, Ohio, "John Jude Palencar: Between Worlds," May 3 -July 21, 2019.

Whoa... jaw drop moment. Can't believe I never heard of this artist before. Actually... it is far too believable that I am out of the loop on most things... but in this case I have truly been missing out!!!! This is gorgeous!!! [insert heart-eyed emoji]
