13-3/8x21" artboard has pen and ink original art by Jack Kirby (1917-1994) w/inks by frequent Kirby collaborator Vince Colletta (1923-1991). Art is for page 7 (story page 5) of Fantastic Four #42, published by Marvel Sept. 1965. Art is from "To Save You, Why Must I Kill You?" storyline by Stan Lee and features six panels, showing the Fantastic Four doing battle with the Frightful Four, which included a brainwashed Thing for this story! First panel shows Sandman battling Human Torch, with Trapster forming "paste bars" to subdue him as Medusa looks on second panel. Third panel features Medusa and Invisible Girl engaged in battle while last three panels show The Thing tackling the expanded form of Mister Fantastic (whose face is not shown). Top margin has inkstamped "Fant 4" title abbreviation with issue and page numbers in red grease pencil. Bottom margin has faint pencil editorial notation regarding battle between Thing and Mister Fantastic. This has been partially erased, but remains mostly legible. Second panel has most of word balloon removed with text replacement via piece glued/taped in place. Back of artboard has Comic Code Authority inkstamp and strip of clear tape has been added along top margin edge. Some scattered glue staining around text replacement in second panel, but not overly distracting, and rest of art remains clean and VF/Exc. Great example of Kirby's Silver Age Fantastic Four comic art, featuring classic Fantastic Four villains.
