LOVE the darker hues that he used here and the image is more sharply defined than some of his other work because of that darker bakground. That also really lets that magnificent hair shine.

Absolutely fantastic Maleev art, his color and design really make the piece excel, I can only imagine how vibrant this is in person, with that deep red, purple and blue.  Cheers!

GORGEOUS piece, Eranga!  Wow - Alex wields a pallete differently than anyone else, doesn't he?  Others may give you earth, air, water, and fire, but with Maleev, his universal truth seems to be comprised of -five- elements: earth, air, water, fire, and color.  The blue and white here nestle the viewer into a place of calm or cold, but Mystique's hair is almost -primal- in its intensity, elemental (there's that word again), infusing a very real feeling of danger or unease into what a casual viewer might mistake as a serene tone that had been set by the portrait.  Looking at this piece, you don't know whether to ignore your tingling danger sense and linger to watch for a little longer, or to run away and pray she hasn't noticed you. Absolutely gobsmacking piece, E (and I love the red Maleev signature at the bottom, too :) )!  Huge congrats!

Breathtaking! That's the word that comes to mind when I see this painting of Mystique. The deep blue color, fading to pinkish violet, of the background makes Raven's figure pop forward. Her white sleeves and outfit, as well as her flaming red hair, contrast beautifully with the background. Her pose, holding the automatic above her head with one hand and raising her other arm in a defensive gesture, see almost like the pose you'd see on a neoclassical statue in an art museum. The golden skull belt at her waist is almost a crown, The whole painting is a powerful demonstration of Alex Maleev's skill as a true master painter, Gorgeous pick-up, congrats.
