Great Mouse Detective: Dr Dawson (49)

      Andreas Deja was one of Disney's leading animators in the studio’s 1990’s revival with supervising credits on Gaston, Jafar, Scar, Hercules, Lilo, and Mama Odie and her snake. The animator wrote and drew a limited edition book of Perrault's Puss 'n Boots in 1994. He is the author of the 2016 book The Nine Old Men: Lessons, Techniques, and Inspiration from Disney's Great Animators. Since leaving Disney, he created the animated short Mushka about a Russian girl and a tiger. Andreas comments on animation on his Deja View blog.

      This Dr. Dawson drawing was offered by Heritage paired with the lady mouse drawing. After concluding the adventure and defeating Moriarty, Olivia Flaversham is reunited with her father. The lady mouse appears at Baker Street seeking Basil’s help and the detective recruits the doctor into the new case. This drawing has a number of notes which I still seek to understand. Comparing the numbering with the lady mouse, these two seem to be from the same scene, but not a true pair. I posted the drawing in a Facebook group and got confirmation that this is by Andreas Deja.
