Description

Diver Shin is known for these large and striking watercolor pieces. He was quite good about sharing the preliminary concept and opted for a very movie poster vibe of the double bust. The scan doesn't show it, but in person, this piece is incredibly vibrant. The piece draws your eyes in toward Scott's visor and the optic wink, and then you have a positively beautiful Phoenix looking regal over top of Cyclops. The stubble and wear marks on the visor give the piece a ton of visual depth. Then you have the Phoenix's radiant golden emblem. The background is, in and of itself, masterful too.
