Description

This is the original cover painting for the historical novel by Susan Wilkinson, published by HarperCollins, 1991 (I show the published cover for reference) Set in Argentina at the end of the 19th century, this novel traces the fortunes of Sebastian who joins his father in the cattle trade in Buenos Aires. Panoramic in format (wraparound cover) and larger than most of Pether's cover paintings, this is an outstanding example of Pether's talents for creating marvelous scenic vistas and characters... done in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 15" x 21..5" and comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.
