Description

Willie Ito, born 1934, has had a decades-long art career in which he's worked for Disney, Warner Brothers, and Hanna-Barbera. His 2007 children's book, "Hello Maggie," draws upon his experiences as a child in an internment camp in America during WW2.

Mr. Ito's pencil sketches of cartoon characters are currently being sold on eBay (as of 7.9.2025) by "pop-king."

His description of his work with one of the animation studios:

"I was involved with many of the Hanna-Barbera shows as character designer, layout man, concept artist and designer with supervisory capacity."

Colorful, calm, cool and collected parrot Jose Carioca co-starred with easily flummoxed Donald Duck in Disney's movie "The Three Caballeros" (1944).

The guy is an animation legend and pioneer. Willie Ito is still around at 91 years of age! That signature is a touch of class that is picked up from his early Disney days.
