Description
Original Art Page to Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #138, published by D.C. Comics in 1971, featuring an absolutely amazing 1/2 splash of all-out battle fighting action with some awesome Kirby Krackle by the King! This is Pg. 20 from the classic Jack Kirby issue, and includes the Man Of Steel in all 3 large panels on the page! Please note that there was damage to the page years ago and it had professional restoration done by a restorer. The main issue was paper loss at the bottom edge of the page. This is really not very noticeable (I have included a scan of the back of the page), and the page displays beautifully. The page features story and art by one of the greatest legends in the history of comics, Jack "King" Kirby, who is best-known for his work at Marvel Comics in the 1960's, where together with Stan Lee he co-created the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Mighty Thor, the Incredible Hulk, the Silver Surfer, and many more classic characters and teams. He is also of course the original co-creator (along with Joe Simon) of Captain America back in the 1940's at the start of the Golden Age of comics. The legendary Murphy Anderson also did artwork on the page. While this may go without saying, finding classic Kirby splashy images from the prime early period of DC's Bronze Age in the 1970's is incredibly difficult. This is a classic example, and vintage pages from this era are highly sought-after. To get a piece of this quality is difficult, as they rarely appear on the open market, and with 60's and 70's Kirby being so heavily collected, once pieces go into collections they do not come out again. This is an exceptional and unbelievably rare piece of artwork, that would look fantastic framed and prominently displayed, and would be a true key piece in any collection.
