Description

Brad Meltzer was a Justice League fanboy growing up. His 12-issue Justice League of America run from 2006–07 with Ed Benes drew heavily from the team’s lore going all the way back to the late ’60s, which happens to mirror the largest run of sequential issues I still own.

Several storylines centered on a plot involving a reincarnated, super-intelligent Solomon Grundy working behind the scenes to acquire Red Tornado’s robotic body in an effort to preserve his newfound intellect.

The arc was deeply character-driven and heavy on dialogue, which was not for everyone. But it felt like it was written for grown-ups like me, and I loved it. Each issue featured a few of these Benes’ double-page spreads, one of which I’m thrilled to have finally added to my collection.

This may have been the last set of sequential comics I purchased?

Sweet DPS, congrats! And thanks for sharing the info/opinion on this run. I have not read it yet but now I want to. Character-driven and heavy on dialogue sounds good to me!
