Page 1: "Unexpected Catch" A fisherman in a rowboat labeled �Hattie� looks bewildered as he reels in a line connected to a surfaced German U-boat labeled �128.� A surprised Nazi officer on the conning tower punctuates the scene with an exclamation mark. The humor is understated, but effective � a satirical twist on military encounters from the perspective of home front absurdity. Signed �McCornack� in lower left. I'm going to guess Spielberg saw gags like this to inspire him to make 1941.
