Shadow Lass Sketch Card by Jeff Moy

The nice thing about having summer employment and some extra money to spend is that now I can commission cards from Jeff on a whim! As usual, I commissioned this one during his WhatNot livestream. I suppose I was just in the mood for a classic Legion costume, or maybe a fun alien character, because I asked him for Shadow Lass sort of out of the blue (heh). Up to this point, I've focused on commissioning characters and costumes from Jeff's run on Legionnaires, although some animated Legion characters and L.E.G.I.O.N. members have snuck in there, mostly as cards Jeff himself opted to draw and then auction off. This was the first time I asked for a character from the pre-reboot run of the Legion, and from there it's sort of spiralled into a proper series of Cockrum-Grell-Giffen era sketch cards, so stay tuned for more of these!

I think this might be one of the nicest sketch cards Jeff's ever done, honestly. It's definitely in my top ten favourites. I think he gave Shady's face some sharper lines, in keeping with her design from the 70s and 80s, and I like that the darker blue he used to highlight her hair and costume is different from all the blues he used to shade her skin, which keeps everything very clear and visually distinct. And of course, Jeff's colourwork and blending for her skintone is as impressive as it always is (if not more, because she's, you know, blue!). I also like the little bit of purple or grey he used to achieve the metallic gold effect for her tiara.
