Description

Our friend and comic art brother Dan Tancredi left us yesterday. It was a tough year for Dan. His health issues robbed a lot of us from spending time with him this year. He loved the hobby and was a tremendous patron of artists everywhere - particularly the lesser known ones he insisted on shining a spotlight on through sheer force of will via his army of sketchbooks.

Over the last couple of years, Dan leaned into art as therapy and started putting pen to paper himself. He loved the surreal and absurd and pretty soon his friends all received the caricature treatment. He put up a store where we could then purchase these monstrous hits to our egos as T-shirts and other miscellaneous trinkets. This one is mine and based on me eating a 4 am sandwich at OAX earlier this year. No one was safe. I went with a hat which is now a treasured possession.

Dan was a friend to so many people in the hobby (collectors and artists alike). His passing is a reminder to value the relationships we’ve built and treasure the moments we get to see each other in person. Rest in power, Dan Tancredi.

I figured the last OAX was a blip and we'd see him at next years. Damn it. ❤️

Such a sad day for our community and hobby. I'm looking through some old NYCC pics I took with Dan in them (several of which you are also in). Treasure your health, family, and friends as life is precious.

Man, Ill miss seeing these new drawings from Dan but will remember time at conventions and talking online. He will be missed.

My deep condolences for this loss. He was someone I really enjoyed talking art with and shared very similar taste for our collections. Big loss for our OA collection community. Thank you for sharing and honoring him.

I always enjoyed interacting with Dan live on my shows every time he showed up on Sunday nights. Very shocking to receive an email about his passing from Mikail just 2 hours before I went live on Sunday, as I wasn't even aware he was ill with cancer. I'm glad to have known him, even if we weren't close friends. RIP Bootlegging!
