Description
Karl Kesel’s inks hit me like the second-coming of Terry Austin! And, since Terry was doing some DC guest inks, plus Terry’s mentor Dick Giordano was also front & center, Byrne switching teams to DC came with a triumvirate of embellishing gods! Lois Lane’s perfectly inked face in panel 3 was all the proof I needed. In addition, how many other pages have John Byrne drawing He-Man & The Masters of the Universe, The Smurfs, G.I. Joe, Shogun Warriors, and Popeye?? Umm, I hope that’s them!

Art from 1988 - 11x17.

Kesel taking over for Austin on this book was such a natural and organic transition.  The artwork never skipped a beat.  As beautifully displayed on this page.

Back then, you couldn't say "Pants" on TV.

I too agree that Kesel's inks were super tight and in line with what Austin was doing.
