Blast from the past! This was the issue I started reading JSF.
Such a cool Grell Sable opening page, particularly like how it highlights his experimentation mixing inked and raw pencil pages, congrats!
Great natural raw pencils for the close up soft focus. It makes us see Jon is just waking up and not focused yet when another CAF critter enters.
It's too bad they darkened the pencilled panels instead of trying to capture the gray tones of the graphite, because the contrast between the inked panels and the pencilled ones gived the page a nice effect!
That 4th image is,how my dog looks at me when it's hungry.
