"Operation: Obscura": Hell-Rider DPS by Trevor Von Eeden & Bob Almond: Commission

A recent commission I inked with the obscure character Hell-Rider, a character from the Skywald Publications 1971 b&w magazine of the same name with only 2 issues published by Gary Friedrich, Ross Andru & Mike Esposito. It's the 131st commission for my prolific client Damon and he says I've most-likely inked Hell-Rider more times than anyone else (over Sal Velluto, Val Mayerick, Tod Smith in 2014, Ben Herrera in 2020 and Jeff Moy earlier this year), this one being my 6th which falls into his gallery theme "Operation Obscura". This time I inked this reinterpretation of a published scene on this reduced double-page spread (both letter-sized pages measure 11"x17" total) over Trevor Von Eeden's pencils, my 5th effort over him. There are so many panels in this dynamic composition filled with nuanced details that it was more work than it looked like at a glance. But while unconventional at times regarding angles and choreography, also fun. I inked this with markers (micron markers, Kuretake disposable brush pen fine & 45 brush pen, Zebra disposable brush pen fine and Pentel Fude & Fudemoji Touch Brush Sign Pens), china marker and black & white ink finger prints. Completed October 14, 2025.
