DescriptionThe calm before the storm. Whenever Hulk finds peace, or happiness, it is always fleeting. I really love this page as it culminates the latter part of the Planet Hulk story and begins a bridge into the World War Hulk story arc. A calm between two major battle arcs, Hulk happy, the King with his Queen in a rare moment of genuine happiness. The immediately following pages see Hulk’s new world (literally and figuratively) come crashing down around him, taking away his Queen and his happiness.This backstory of this page is a happy tale of the fish that got away, only to swim back and find it’s way into my net. I had the offer to buy this page back in 2008 (thanks Ken, I wish I had been smarter) but mulled it too long and it ended up in another collection. As it turns out, the new owner lived mere minutes from me, and we became good friends in this amazing/frustrating hobby. As I was asking if this page might be something he would consider selling, he pointed to a wall in his home and explained that this is the only page in his collection that is framed and on the wall. That’s not going anywhere, but you will be the first to know if that changes. Almost 17 years later (I had to do the math twice as I thought there was NO WAY it had been that long), and a few check-ins through the years on the page, the owner reached out and asked if I was still interested. Needless to say, I was NOT going to let this escape my grasp again, and a deal was done. Thanks to Anthony for keeping to your promise of first crack at this, and for such a flawless transaction. The page now resides in the 3rd collection within a small grouping of gammabro Hulk comic art collectors. My planet Hulk art buying has slowed from peak years in the past, and I will likely still add more pages as the right opportunities appear, but if this were to be the last PH page I acquire, it would be ending on a high note. This is fantastic! Carlo is probably one of my favorite contemporary Hulk artists.

17 years is crazy! I am happy to see it FINALLY end up in your collection but man talk about a bonehead move on my part. I should have kept this beauty. ;-)

Pagulayan has us believing that happiness ever after can happen. They say he's a monster, but we know that there are bigger monsters out there and even bigger monsters waiting to come out from within if pushed too far.

I'm so happy to see this in a great home. I'm glad I had the long time I did with it and it meant a lot to me when I got it, but that meaning faded over time. I'm glad it's now in a place where it was promised, and can be more appreciated. Congrats and thanks again for the easy transaction.

Wow! What a surprising Incredible Hulk page by Carlo Pagulayan! Gorgeous art featuring a contented Hulk with his bride and Queen. Such an unusual moment in Hulk's life, we rarely see him in any mood except anger and frustration. Pagulayan draws this moment with smiles all around and successfully convey the happiness that surrounds Hulk. But the last panel with its dark silhouettes hints at the darkness that will soon change Hulk's life once again. Gorgeous art by Carlo. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
