Art depicts depicts one of the Dick Tracy characters subset, w/hand-lettered "Chief Brandon" name below art and "Copr. 1946 Famous Artists Syn." hand-lettered text along top. Faint pencil text at lower right concerning printing and scale of image. Tiny pinhole at center from use of compass, but art remains clean and Exc. Back of display includes separate 4-5/8" square sheet of onionskin paper w/fleshtone color which, when placed over the bw art, provides the colors for the finished button. Margins of this sheet are mounted w/.25" wide strips of double-sided tape to acetate sheet that can be removed from back and placed over art. Paper has a few thin ripple lines, but these do not detract visually. Unique and historic button art. Comes w/example of the pin in custom case for display.
