Description
"Anguish Once Removed!"
Nov. 1978

There are some runs or stages on Marvel titles that have became legendary.

John Romita Jr. + Bob Layton + David Michelinie on IRON MAN is, for sure, one of them!

Here you have an example of their work. From their very same first issue! It is not an ¨A¨ page, but it is representative and beautiful.

Taking into account how difficult/tough/hard is to find pages like this one from that run, I feel quenched.

Michelinie said ¨there isn't anyone else like Layton inking metal armours...¨

¨...Nefaria was my father! And somehow that ... changes things.¨
MADAME MASQUE

PS. On the 21st of February of 2026 I had the immense pleasure of meeting Bob Layton in Barcelona. What a Marvel Legend!!!! He was so kind, so fun, so friendly!!! He signed my page. I'm updating the pics with Layton's signature!

Magical!  JRJR and Bob Layton artwork typified the new wave of artistry of the mid 70's!  It was pushing toward a high tech look with finer detail and more polished shine adding to the Marvel house style.

My first Iron Man comic pulled from the spinner - read it to tatters. This issue is super saturated with nostalgia for me and I am a kid again every time I see a page. Congrats and thanks for sharing!

When this came out the marvel roster competition was fierce, they forced me to make impossible choices with my limited resources

Fabulous page from John Romita Jr's run on Iron Man. I loved John's style back then, he was so good at visual storytelling right from the beginning of his career. I love how this page starts with a closeup of Iron Man's hand lifting up a glove from the ruins of a building and then opens up to reveal the full scene. Bob Layton's inks really bring John's pencils to life here. Great storytelling from two very talented artists. Great pick-up, congrats!

Un página maravillosa, de la que pienso que es, la mejor etapa de Iron Man. Recuerdo que de crío me lo pasaba en grande leyendo esta etapa. Enhorabuena por la adquisición.
