Description
Published 1979 by Warren

Robot Fighters
written by Bill DuBay

Bishop Dane and his robot Manners are thrust into a war of humans against hostile robots.
Bishop sends Manners on a mission to infiltrate the Robots and ultimately destroy them from within.

Bashop Dane is the great great grandfather of Restin Dane (the Rook).

I always enjoyed the Warren Sci-Fi stories and the Rook was a favorite of mine.

The Rook was created by Bill DuBay and debuted in Eerie #82 (1977) and after fan acclaim was granted his own magazine whic h ran for 14 issues.
The Rook was licensed by Harris comics who published a mini-series in 1995.
In 2015 Dark Horse published another mini-series.

Alcala, ooh na-na (ay)
Half of my art is ink Alcala, ooh-na-na (ay, ay)
He Rook me back to need controller, na-na-na
Oh, but my art is ink Alcala (ay)
There's somethin' 'bout this Manners (uh huh)
Alcala, ooh na-na

He didn't walk up with that "how you doin'?"
(When he's Dane in the room)
He said there's a lot of worlds I can do with
(But I can't without you)
I knew Jim forever in a minute
(That summer night in Shoosh)
Alcala says Bishop's malo in him
He got Eerie in like

Ooh... I knew it when I met Jim
I loved him when I sketch him
Got me feelin' like
Ooh... and then I had to tell Jim
I had robot, oh na-na-na-na-na

The Star Wars influence is thick but those Alcala inks are fine!

I honestly thought it was C-3PO in the cockpit from the CAF thumbnail view! Alcala on inker Mt. Rushmore confirmed.

Great artistic combination. Agreed that the Rook was fantastic.

A really cool sci-fi page with godly Alcala inking, holy moly! I haven't read The Rook or follow up stories but based on your description it sounds like something I'd be into.

Wow, I know you must like the Jim Janes Legion connection, but for me, this is ALL Alcala, all the time!

I agree, Alcala inks overpowered Janes pencils!
