DescriptionPublished 1994The Long Road Home written by Tom McCraw An ElseWorlds tale of the Legion Ayla wakes up and finds that she is being transported to another world. She will then have adventures on other worlds before she finds her way home. Each adventure was penciled by a different artist, Mark Farmer, Ron Boyd, Wade von Grawbadger, Craig Hamilton, Jeff Moy, Ted McKeever and Colleen Doran. The stories were silly, almost written for a child. Maybe DC was hoping that parents would pass this book unto their children and gain some young Legion fans. Curt drew these intro first three pages and then penciled four more pages later in the issue. Social/Sharing |

Somewhere over with bubble in page five
There's a Ranzz that I heard of once Garth apologize
Somewhere over in bubble lines aren't blue
And the twins that you dare to dream really do come through
Some page ink splash upon Boyd art
And wake up where Elseworlds are far
Behind me
Where troubles felt like Legion shorts
Ayla above the claimy Spark
Curt Swan you'll buy these
Somewhere over in bubble lightning strikes
Girl flies over in bubble
Why then, oh, why can't I?

Who knows what they were thinking? At least the Swan art is nice!

If they were trying to appeal to kids I'm not sure "I Want Mommy" was the best route with the dialog ha but I think I know what you mean! Great cosmic/space background here for the Orb to endeavour through.

I tried reading the stories again and it was painful! Only saved by occasional good art!

A nice range of techniques used for the cosmic background (including a bit of conte crayon, I think). Nice page!

What a striking page, Miki! I love the space here, -and- the Space (if you take my meaning); lots of room for the moment to breathe, as well as to spotlight Ayla's isolation, all alone in the expanse of the cosmos. Beautiful layout, funneling the viewer's eye down to the bottom right corner (for the inevitable page turn) and the use of the fish-eye escape pod in the exact middle as its own panel is unorthodox and fantastic (the shape and lovely space-warping of that panel really makes the whole thing feel more alien). I really like the pencil shading throughout, too, adding another layer of dimension to everything. Sweet page, Miki - great Curt Swan add! Congrats!

The pencil shading on the bubble is such a neat aspect of the page. I always think Swan does great backgrounds too.
