Very cool how Ross lays out this infamous talking point from the movie. It's as if he knew he had to get it over with quickly in one page, while still bring it in full glory for Indy to bask in the glow. For some it immediately took them out of the movie by going too far into fantasy. They were in for a treat as there would be even more...
2 men literally melted for looking into the ark, while the rest had their eyes/brains burned out, a man stood there holding the other man's beating heart as the man stood their screaming, a man crumbled to dust for drinking from the wrong cup, while the water from the right cup healed a bullet wound, and this scene strayed too far into fantasy. Sure, what the heck.
I loved this movie, and it is my middle son's favorite Indy movie. These 3 pages beautifully portray my favorite scene from the film. Indy's reactions to finding himself in the situation, along with the incredibly clever way he found to save himself. I loved it. Everyone checked their disbelief every time they entered the theater to see an Indy movie. They had to, or it all would have crashed and burned the first night in 1981. Funny what sends them all up in arms.
Memorable moment from the movie.
Appliances were built to last in the '50s ;)
Truly, they did. But they had to put a stop to that cr@p, or companies would have crashed due to lack of sales! : - )
