5 Minute Nightcrawler (2025)

To show me his marker streaking technique, Michele Cropera rendered a quick headshot of Nightcrawler from the X-Men. First came a pencil rough. Then to achieve the fading effect with magic markers, he rubbed a "dead" magic marker against a newer one before each stroke with the dead one, putting just enough ink on it to have each stroke get lighter and lighter as it went. The whole thing took about five minutes. This was the first time he ever drew (or even saw) Kurt; we looked up a picture on the internet to show him the character.
