Description

A pair of ghosts try to defend Harlan against two Princes of Hell:

“What's this I feel… Caleb! By all the damned souls! He’s disappeared! Caleb!”

(Two ghosts materialize.) “Harlan! Harlan Draka!”

“Who’s there?”

“Friends, Dampyr. You don’t know me, but we are two spoks sent by Nikolaus. I am Meyrink the banker, and he…”

“Giacomo Casanova, Venetian gentleman!” (This pays off the flashback to Nikolaus helping Casanova earlier in this issue.)

(Samael watches in his magic mirror.) “Well well, so dear old Nik has a hand in this. How amusing.”

(Meyrink) “Two invincible demons, infernal princes, are about to attack you. They didn't see us because we were invisible. You must flee.”

(Casanova draws his rapier.) “Go, friends. I'll stay here to divert their attention.”

"Giacomo! This wasn't Nikolaus' plan."

"Really? That means a spok must have some free will. Get going. I was never a great swordsman in life, but now I'm ready to take on anyone. After all, what could happen to a ghost?"

(Alastor) "You're not Harlan Draka!"

"No, but to get to him, you'll first have to get past my body. Although, truth be told, I fear I don't have one."

"Fine by me." (Alastor stabs Casanova.)

"Yyyiiaaagggh!"

(Tesla watches in the mirror.) "That's horrible! What did they do to him?"

(Samael) "Alastor's black dagger sucked him in. It has the power to kill even those who are already dead. Imagine what would happen to Harlan."

One, two princes kill before you
That's what I said now
Princes, princes who mirror you
Just go ahead now
One has Harlan in his pockets
That's Caleb, now
Demon said he wants to buy you rockets
Meyrink is dead, now

This one he got a princely Kurjack
That's what I said now
Got some Big deal Nikolaus planned it
Ain't in this dead now
You bury him, Cropera will condone you
How 'bout that now
You bury me, your Dampyr will disown you
He'll eat his hat, now

Bury him or bury me
I'm Harlan that loved you baby can't you see?
Ain't got no Cropera family tree
But I know what a prince and Dampyr ought to be
I know what a prince and Dampyr ought to be

A soul sucking sword?

Hmmmm.....sounds familiar. Michael Moorcock might have something to say about this!

I love those first 2 panels of Harlan in deep shadow/blacks, those noir-ish images are so cool.

Definitely some Moorcock influence here. The Italians seem pretty well read in English fantasy.
