Tess O'Day recognizes the man being tortured and finally loses her composure: “Kurjak!”

“Who…?”

“You know him?”

“I'll make you regret what you did to him, Druj.”

“Tess… you're Tesla?! But that's not possible. She's Samael's slave now! And you're nothing like her! Why… hiss… can't I grasp you?”

“My body is virtual, Druj. But your hair can hold a more solid body… your own!” (Tess redirects the tendrils of Druj's hair.)

“No, not that!”

“Squeeze harder, Druj! Until you cut your own flesh!”

“Sonderling! Where are you? Aaaaahhhh!”

(Tess turns her attention from Druj to one of the witches.) “That's happens to ladies who skimp on their hair care. As for you, old hag, not even an army of beauticians could solve your problem!”

The revelation that Tess O'Day is "virtual" pays off the brief flashback scene early in this issue, in which Tesla showed Kurjak that she liked to play a Sims-type video game in which her avatar, Tess O'Day, could walk freely in online sunlight. We still don't know how Tess has managed to appear in the real world, though.

It's not obvious from the dialogue (perhaps deliberately so), but this is the death of Lady Druj, crushed and impaled by her own hair. She exits the series here. Check out the strands of hair cutting into her thigh as they constrict, in the middle tier of page 43.

On page 42, Tess was digitally made smaller to allow for a larger word balloon. Also, a word balloon covers Lady Druj's bare buttocks, the only time that trick was used in this sequence for modesty's sake. The word balloons reappear on page 43 because it did not need a digital version.

I'm not sure where you started your Dampyr journey, but a good "jumping on" point to get caught up on the basics of the ongoing storyline is to read Dampyr Speciale #1 "Dracula Park" (art by Stefano Andreucci), and then Dampyr #54 "The Theatre of Lost Footsteps" (art by Maurizio Dotti), and then start this Dampyr #104/105 story by Cropera from the beginning. The art is excellent in all of these, and these particular stories are heavy on lore.

It would be even better to read #64 immediately after #54 since it has some impact on 104/105, but I haven't posted it yet. It will be coming soon.

The first few issues of the series have also been published in English and are easy to find online for purchase if you (or anyone) wants further background and reading entertainment.

This series does have a lot of great art; American collectors just aren't familiar with the characters yet, or get scared away by the foreign dialogue. I am trying to collect certain specific stories, but with 94 pages a month for 300 issues (and counting), there's plenty of Dampyr art out there for everyone. Anybody who wants to buy a whole issue, with translation, can let me know.

Pour one out for Lady Druj :-/ - sorry to see her go! But intrigued (I do remember now that Tesla is a "gamer") to understand more about Tesla's online avatar Tess O'Day now being able to manifest beyond her virtual world!
