The heroes escape from the Vodník's underwater lair: “Quick! Get Hanneke out through the painting!”

“Come on!”

“Nik! Harlan! Hurry up and follow us!”

“Nooo!”

“Run, Kurjak! I'll hold him!”

“You took her away from me! You'll pay for this!”

“Harlan! The bubble has burst! The water is coming in!”

“You'll stay with me forever!”

The dramatic wide panel with the gushing water exemplifies what I love about this series' art. The one with Kurjak jumping through the painting is cool too. He wears this striped shirt (purchased for him by Nik and Harlan) throughout the rest of the issue instead of his usual solid black.

We saw this lizard-thing several pages back as well, lurking behind the Vodnik in the painting hanging in Sinistrari's gallery. Its meaning was not obvious at the time.

The Vodnik first appeared back in issue #54, playing violin on Prague's Charles Bridge, but I don't have the page which featured him.

The last panel of pg 64 where they are coming out back into the gallery through the painting is so good but some great panels all around. Also I'm suddenly in the mood for a vodka tonic which I will shorten to Vodnik moving forward as a tribute!
