Dampyr #105 (2008) pages 66-67: He sleeps with the fishes

The escape from the underwater bubble gets messy as it pops. The Vodník clings to Harlan, who shoots it in the chest. Nikolaus drags Harlan to the surface and with demonic strength totes him home. “Hang on, my friend! Hang on!”

(Hanneke is at Nik's home already.) “Ghosts? You and Gustav are ghosts? No… that's not possible! I'm still dreaming!”

“We're spoks summoned by Nik, fragments of our past selves, brought back to life thanks to him. We made ourselves useful, right?”

“What you experienced wasn't a dream, Fraulein Hanneke. You really risked dying at the bottom of the Moldau.”

“Harlan! Where's Harlan? He didn't stay down there, did he?”

“Calm down, little love-struck detective. Your Harlan is here.”

“Nikolaus! Thank heavens! How is he?”

“I fished him out of the river twice in the space of twenty-four hours, which isn't great even for a Dampyr. Rekindle the fire, friends.”

“And that slimy little man?”

“The Vodník? He's fish food. But another one will be reborn soon enough. There's always one like him at the bottom of the Moldau, and hopefully the next one will be nicer.”
