Tess O'Day and Kurjak have returned to the Infernal City of Eblis for a reckoning with Samael. Kurjak has his assault rifle, but...

(T3sla) “No common weapon has any effect against the princes of hell.”

(Kurjak) “With this toy, I feel more at ease. And anyway, we already know it can harm their tin soldiers, the second-rate demons.”

“It was a mistake to let you come with me. I'd send you back if I could, but the gate has closed forever behind us.”

“Do you really think I would have let you come alone? And besides, you're cute as Tess O’Day, but I want my Tesla back!”

“Soon, this aspect of mine will dissolve. Samael let me 'dress' in it just to come and save you. It will all have been for nothing if they find you here, but I will beg him to spare you.”

“I won’t let you. He might do it again, to keep you, but I would have to give you up. I'd rather risk dying, because I can't live without you anyway.”

“Emil, I'll help you if I can, but I might not be the master of my own will.”

“I trust you. I know you'll do everything you can to resist that bastard's evil charm. Go now. I'll follow at a distance.”

“Stay hidden, please!”

“She's going slowly so I can follow her. I have to wait for her to return to her true body. And when Tesla is whole, I'm sure she'll be able to rebel against Samael. We'll just have to seize the moment and get out of here, escape this horrifying place. I don't know how yet, but we'll make it. And we're not alone. Our friends will do everything they can to help us, assuming Nikolaus and Harlan manage to get back to Earth… wherever that is right now.” (Kurjak last saw Harlan and Nik in Sinistrari's interdimensional art gallery. They did make it back to Earth and rescued Hanneke.)

Tesla and Kurjak's love is touching, with each prepared to sacrifice themselves to save the other.
