It shows that even the Metaluna Mutant has some level of modesty and puts his pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us.

A very clever nod to the practical difficulties of the suit for the Metaluna Mutant in the original film. Putting pants on the mutant was the result of technical challenges faced by the costume designers too add an exoskeleton to the lower half and still allow mobility for the person wearing it.
