Jose Garcia-Lopez 2012 Bat Lash Original Art

Another stunning page from The Maestro, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez! A great All-Star Western page from 2012 featuring the handsome but lecherous Bat Lash. This page, while not his usual superhero work, truly showcases Jose's attention to detail, his mastery of the narrative art and his natural tendency for good composition.

What makes the page even better is the, unfortunately, unseen dialogue by writer Jimmy Palmiotti. (See additional image). This makes me even more nostalgic for word balloons on the original art as opposed to them generated with computer graphics. I understand it is done for expediency. But it is my belief that the word ballons are a part of the art form. I laughed when I read Bat's dialogue in the 2nd panel, "Gentlemen, I am a pacifist. Allow me to pass my fist to your face." Jimmy's writing and Jose's art is an unbeatable combination.
