Description

(Tesla talks with Samael) “And so Nergal wanted to use you to capture Harlan.”

“You would have followed me, and the Dampyr would have followed you, or so he thought. But he made the mistake of not asking my opinion on the matter.”

“And if he had asked you?”

“Who knows. But my interest in you has no ulterior motives, beautiful creature of the night. You will regret having rejected my offer, but it is still valid. Think carefully!” (Samael vanishes in a whoosh.)

(Harlan gives a farewell hug to Berthe as Tesla watches longingly.) “Greta thanked me for having finished the work. She said that from now on whoever wants to hire her will have to take me as her understudy.”

“It's a start. But accept my advice: As soon as you can, walk on your own two feet.”

“Maybe I will. But you have to know how to be content. One thing is sure: Prague brought me good luck. I will never forget it.”

Tesla is clearly conflicted about Samael's offer to grant her the freedom of daylight if she joins him on the Dark Team. This is the first Dampyr story I've read that fleshes her out (so to speak) as anything but a loyal sidekick with no agenda of her own. This plot thread will continue in future issues. But for now, The End!

Love that body language of Tesla at the end as she feels the sting of the cool breeze and of the loneliness.

This issue was def a banger overall, especially on the art front. Thanks for sharing all the pages. Happy New Year!

Yes, Dotti is one of Bonelli's best artists. He's currently working on their flagship series, Tex. We'll be looking at more Dampyr work from him in weeks to come.

Glorious final panel - a great, moody gothic scene that would be right at home in a Warren magazine. Some lovely techniques on display.
