AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service) comics were commissioned for free distribution to members of the US Military.
The first Marvel AAFES comics was produced in 2005.

In this issue Hydra has seized control of a military satellite with immense destructive power. It also is used to transmit messages from overseas members back home. A diverse team led by Captain America and consisting of Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider and the Punisher are tasked in wresting control of the satellite back from Hydra.
In this sequence Silver Surfer confronts Hydra robots that are guarding the satellite in space.

I picked this page up from Rick Ketcham at a local convention.
And it's the only Carlo Barberi page in my collection.
I hadn't posted any Silver Surfet art lately so I figured it's about time.

It's a cool page and they say it gets colder
You're bundled up now wait 'til you get Hydra
But the meteor man is the Surfer
Judging by Carlo in the satellite picture

The fight in space inks getting pretty thin
The Hydra's getting armed so you might as well win
My world's on fire. How about Moore's?
That's the page I like it and Avengers get more

Hey, now, you're the Air Force, Ketcham's game on, go play
Hey, now, you're a rock star, get the robots, get page
And all that Silver is sold
Army super stars break the mold

Cool Surfer page and nice space backgrounds! First time I recall seeing art from an AAFES comic, good to know those are out there.

If he wasn't so worried about how he looked and just wore a helmet this all could have been avoided.

Are you sure you wanted to post a Silver Surfer page, or is it just that you wanted to keep the outer space background theme going? Either way, it's very nice.

Holy moley - no disrespect intended to the Surfer here, but this one is all about the background to me, beautifully executed and lending so much depth to the panels, allowing those beautiful wireframe figures to float so effortlessly on top.  Plus, the scene itself is so darn "comic book cool" (and yes, I recognize the contradiction there :) )...  A robotic hydra crawling up and over a satellite drifting through space, taking potshots at the Surfer?!?  Just yes, yes, yes on so many levels.  I really, really love this one, Miki!  Congrats on a beautiful Barberi!

Incredible starscape! Conveys, at least to me, that the Marvel universe teems with life and worlds.
