Marvelous !!!
The good stuff!!!
Haha, y'know they don't call him Whaleman cause he has the powers of a whale. 😜
Byrne/Austin, pre-X-Men. Nice!
I think it could have been the art checklist in the back of the Art of John Byrne that made me aware of this magazine, I was floored when I finally found that issue and opened it up to see that amazing art in glorious black and white. Byrne/Austin really announced their arrival in a big way. CONGRATS!!!
Beautiful!
This is the team! This is the time period! They took Star-Lord and made him the best he's ever looked.
That was such a great one shot. And the reprint even featured a Golden/austin framing sequence.
Classic!
Nice, earlu Star-Lord page. The figure falling backwards in the penultimate panel really adds to the dynamic sense of tipping in the dramatic final panel.
Byrne, Austin and Claremont working together right before they started on the UXM legendary run. Nuff said! As good as it gets!
I remember trying to track down some of these old Byrne projects to read when I was a kid. They were tough to find before Ebay and the internet existed. Still love his early style.
Somehow I managed to miss the book when it was first published and only read it after Claremont, Byrne and Austin were already working on Uncanny X-Men. I picked a copy up much later but still found it very enjoyable. Haven't seen any art from the book until you posted this page. It's a terrific page with great action. Love Peter Quill's courage here and the fantastic action-packed panels. Phenomenal pick-up, congrats!
One of my top favorite books of all time! Haza!
That third panel alone is worth the price of admission, great catch !
