DescriptionIt’s the most wonderful time of the year! The CAF Secret Santa event is always a highlight of the holiday season. We just wrapped our 5th event, and every year the participants raise the ante in terms of the thought and care that they put into their gift giving. Even better is catching up with friends and sharing a few laughs. This year I was fortunate that the inimitable Michael McIsaac drew my name, and in the impeccably wrapped and shipped package I received was this stunning, vibrant depiction of my favorite Devourer of Worlds. I’ve tried to adjust the scan as best as possible to capture all the watercolor nuance and technique that Megan incorporated into the piece. The fine lines really work well to add shape and definition. Coincidentally, Magic just released an image of their upcoming Galactus card, and the description of Galactus as a “16/16 black Elder Alien creature” really fits this particular illustration. Also, if you’ve got some Cates Surfer, it’s fun to add Hutchinson Galactus. Thanks Michael, for your thoughtful gifts, and to all the participants. If you’d like to join the Secret Santa fun, drop me a line! Happy Holidays! Social/Sharing |

Because one can never have enough Galactus in their collection! Nice work by the artist!

It really is all about the friends you made along the way.

It's nice to have someone to hold when the world is ending.

Mmmm... tasty. Coal makes great appetizers for the man with the big hat and I don't mean Pharrell Williams.

WOW!! It sure looks like Galacti-Claus has harvested a nice batch of coal to drop in peoples' stockings here... but none will reach Michael McIsaac! What an incredible gift!! Megan's colors here are proof positive of the Power Cosmic, and I love the stylized design and thick lines on the Big G's torso and legs (as well as how she relied completely on the colors to define the outline of his girdle). I'm especially struck by her use of the planetary rubble as Kirby Krackle substitute.... I don't think I've ever seen that before like that! :) Really, REALLY striking image! Congrats, M L, great job, Michael, and happy holidays to all!

This galactic world eater is lean, mean, and bursting at the seams with vibrant watercolor. Really cool piece and a great gift (nice job Michael!). And kudos as always to you for organizing the Secret Santa, always a fun time!

I have to give it up to the artist, this is quite a unique interpretation of Galactus. Very nice!

Lovely colours, that make the body of Galactus merge into the cosmic background.

You know I got you
Gift's not a secret I try to hide
You know you want me
So don't keep Megan's art hand all tied
You claim it's not in the cards
And fate is pullin' you miles away pack out of the MTG
But you're here in my art
So who can stop me if I decide that you're my dinner feast?
What if we get Mike the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Drawin' Galactus is smart
You'll be the one it was meant to find
Gift's up to you, and gift's up to me
No one could say when we get hungry
So why don't we get Mike the stars?
And Megan the world could devour, tonight
Ah-oh (no, no, no, no)
Ah-oh (mm)

This is stunning. Fantastic colors on display, but I also like how Galactus appears fragmented like the planet. Wonderful commission!
