When you ask me how I feel about you
I tried to find the Earths that sketch describes you
You are to me like a Perez jewel, so valuable Miki
You shine so bright, lining up no life with tears tonight
You are so Crisis to me
Kal holding you has made me see
With your love, he can do just anything
Yes sir
You are so Crisis to me
George's Supergirl we know in ink
George's love comforts my heart with joy you bring
Nice piece! This scene always makes me think of the poignant subsequent moment between Superman and Supergirl in "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"
Very nice sketch
One of the most memorable images in comics.
A classic image.
A very classic "La Pietà" by Michelangelo composition. Although it has been repeated hundreds of times doesn't mean it loses intensity or beauty.
I got schooled by Steve Lightle on this: While Michelangelo's Pietà (1498-1499) is the most famous example, it was preceded many similiar images such as the Pietà (Vesperbild) (1375-1400) in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Wow... Perez revisits the "scene of the crime" and one of the most indelible and classic images in all of comics history... I really enjoy this take on it, isolating Superman and personalizing the loss more than the "public gathering" the original (classic!) cover was... Realky cool piece, Miki - congrats!
this is such a great convention sketch and tribute to one of his most iconic cover images. really cool piece Miki.
This is amazing!!!
We all refer to these "standing while carrying someone in their arms" pieces as being homages to La Pietà by Michelangelo, but I honestly don't think they homage that. I believe it's just coincidence and that any purposely done homage would be drawn showing the person doing the carrying, in a seated position rather than standing.
I agree!
