It has cosmic character design elements from his Captain Marvel and Warlock runs where you get that big afro! This was Starlin's Bravura line and he put everything into his creator owned endeavor.

Even if it's just the shape of the head, It's the look he used for Magus back in the 70's.
That 8-panel sequence is def awesome, as well as the splashy image of Pyrax. Another nice Starlin addition!
