This piece is very special to me. I adored the stories in the back of Classic X-Men�they were actually why I bought them. And issue 5 is my favorite. That Colossus story is so good. And the delicate yet strong art by John Bolton made them for me, especially this one.

When I was surfing the web, I came across John Bolton�s own website, and saw this piece for sale. Years ago, I almost purchased the final art to the back cover. But had to back out as yet another house crisis started literally leaking.

But now, I had a chance to add this gorgeous prelim to my collection. And John�s wife, Liliana, who runs the site with him, was such a pleasure to speak with, making this piece special again. She is a wonder. He was gracious, signing it for me, even asking if I wanted the signature in pencil or ink. We both agreed pencil was best. (While this was all in email, it felt like a nice conversation.)

Thank you Liliana! Thank you John! The emotion this piece brings out in me�just wonderful!

HAHAHA! No judgement here! :) Are they silver maple or maybe Japanese red maple?

Bolton's art made the comics worthy to be collected by the crowd that already had the old issues being reprinted. This prelim is a cool portrait of a classic X-Men!
