Congratulations! Not just on completing that circle, but on having such a cool teacher supporting you, too!
Everything we want in a Surfer page, and what a tale to boot!
I always know to expect some fire when you post but wow! Great page and awesome story. Thats soo cool that your parents saved that for you. Congrats!
Beautiful example
How cool!
Right piece, right place, right time, right bid, right winner. Congratulations on your serendipitous full-circle moment. Couldn't happen to a better guy.
Cool story and it's in the right hands! Congrats!
Love the story. Love the Art and have to add - really like the determined expression you added to your version back when you were still but a babe. Huge Congrats!
What a thrill this must be - congrats! And glad you picked such a great page too - those transition panels/images are fantastic.
Awesome story and awesome art by Grinberg and yourself!
This warms the cockles of my heart.
Love the art and the story is even better! Way to recapture that 16 year old magic!
Yesterday a child came out Eranga
Caught in ninety five inside the art
Fearful when the sky was Grindberg's Surfer
And fearful at the calling of the stars
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted nineties go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of line
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we paint
Bids go round and round and round
In full circle game
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Sketched over ten clear frozen streams
Words like when you're teacher must appease him
And promises of this page make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted nineties go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, read that only book
The lines from where we came
Bids go round and round and round
In HA circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to art deals threw bid down
And they tell him pay on time it won't be long now
Bill you drag your feet to slow the circles down
Wow that is so cool, you are right 100% full circle. It's great you still have your drawing/watercolor from back then. You should frame them together. It's a real rarity to ever have the opportinity let along having the stars align for this to happen. Congrats!!! Now if only I could afford to own some of the Todd McFarlane spiderman covers i drew...ha!
As a teen, I HATED Grindberg's constant morphing of styles.
I now recognize that I was wrong, especially regarding his Surfer work that is especially impressive in b&w.
Congrats on the catharsis :)
Sucha a very cool, sweet and lovely story! That piece of ART should be yours! It is so nice to see how finally is in your gallery! Huge congrats!
That is an awesome shot of the Surfer and tres cool to have a page with that kind of connection to you being an artist. Huge congrats!
Stunning page made only greater by the history and nostalgia behind it! That surfer in the distance in the bottom left margin is the 16 year old version. The one we see in the forefront is the current Eranga, hurdling towards the future.
You should throw the Proto-Eranga Surfer piece into the OAX auction!!!!! ;-p Might be one of the coolest 3 image sequences of Surfer on the Grindberg page as he glides on his board through the cosmos. congrats on the win, the page, and the full circle journey!
Amazing page, quintessential Surfer
Yes! Awesome page and even better story!
Some really cool dynamic images of SS, cheers!
BEAUTIFUL Silver Surfer page! Love the layout!!
Oh man, I love it when a plan comes together - so happy to see this in the bet possible collection it could find its way to. And even more happy that that 16 yo artist decided to pick the pencil back up all those years later and start drawing - we are all better for that decision. Major congrats E!
Way to go, bro! Being able to own the original art to the images you were copying from comics back as a teenager is so awesome!
Poetry in motion. Just stay in your lane and don't start commissioning Silver Surfer, you hear me???
Uh oh...
