Icon Devil, volume 2 issue 1

One of my fave pages from my self-published indie comic, Icon Devil. This is from the second volume, issue #1, published in July 1989.

I had a lot of fun with the dialogue. Everybody talked cool. I twisted my brain in a pretzel trying to write dialogue that was unusual and didn't sound like you heard it all before... and yet tried to make it sound natural as if anyone could talk like this normally.

I think sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Hey, I was young. At least I made the effort. I wrote, drew, colored, and also hand lettered these books. And published.

I look back and just love, love, LOVE looking at the art to my old Icon Devil books, the second volume. Not a huge fan of my art in the first volume (two issues). I still had too much woodshedding to do.

But in this issue... yep, love my old art and look at it more fondly than my new art! So far, anyways...
