Untamed #3, page 24, Dane after the battle

This is a half-page from my final Untamed issue of the mini-series, #3, which was published in August of 1993 by Epic Comics, Marvel's creator-owned line.

It's a dynamic page; much of this series featured flashbacks, which I drew in a different media, to be printed as sepia tone. The other half of this page is in sepia tone, and all of those flashbacks I had to draw on separate art board. Hence, this page only features the regular pen and ink illo. It's page 23 of the story, but page 24 in the book (there's an ad page in there somewhere).

I do not know who owns the other half with the sepia tone inks; I haven't had it for decades. However, this half is definitely the better half. Dane, the main character, has just laid waste to a whole yard of bad Yakuza/ninja-type guys in the climax battle royale, with just his katana. It's a calm-after-the-storm moment, where he's standing still immediately after the carnage. But it shows how violent that battle was, as there are splatters of blood still falling down around him.

I liked writing Dane; he was always such a well-dressed, civilized, poised and calm character; but when the action started, he held nothing back and was merciless and precise in his combat.
