Pages 180-184 Bacon's troopers finish off the human and dinosaur sentries protecting the hidden colony:
“And this is the last one. Damned beasts. They almost raised the alarm.”
“I searched further ahead. We're finally there. Beyond, the tunnel open into a huge cavern with a lake.”
“The spring we were looking for. So it really exists, and we found it!”
“What else is down there?”
“A sort of village. Men, women, children playing. But I didn't see the Alfa Agents.”
“No big deal. We won't have to look for them, because as soon as we start shooting they will come to us. Remove the silencers. Now, let's get serious!”
(Civilians run screaming as Frost's goons charge into the village, guns blazing. But some shoot back.) “Go to hell! Damn, they’re peeking from every corner. Keep your eyes open!”
(A mother shoots back. Frost guns her down and grabs the child.) “To the devil with you! Come here, you.”
“Noo! Let me go!”
“There are more of them than expected, and they are well armed. More are surely coming, but the real danger is the Alfa Agents. Gather the children. We will use them to our advantage.”
“Roger.”
(Nathan runs up.) “Kyowa, what are these gunshots?”
“My people are under attack from outside!”
(Carolyn) “Nathan, it's Bacon's men, right?”
“Who else?”
(Kyowa) “It's that guy Frost himself, you'll see.”
“Yeah, they found the entrance to the spring too. Or worse, they followed us and therefore know we're here too!”
“Over there; they took the children!”
(Frost) “Agent Never! I know you're here with your colleagues. If you care about the lives of these children, you better come forward!”
“That dirty bastard. He can't be serious.”
(Nathan) “I'm afraid so, Kyowa. He has no scruples.”
(Carolyn) “He'll kill us anyway, and then he'll have Kyowa and his people in his grip.”
“We have no choice, at least for now. But you stay hidden, because he doesn't know you're here. The others and I will do as he says.”
“You win, Frost. We're out in the open, as you can see. But you have to let those children go.”
“One thing at a time, Agent Never. And for starters, drop your weapons!”
Page 185 “Be reasonable, Frost. Don't you think this has gone too far? It's become too much for even a man as powerful as Bacon to handle, and when he falls, you will too.”
“Oh, really? I wonder why I think otherwise! Think about it, Agent Never. The public will see this place as a terrorist hideout led by Powell!”
“Leave my father out of it, you bastard!”
“I can't believe it. Carolyn! So, this is where you were hiding. Now the picture is complete, and it couldn't have gone better!’
“I'll talk to Bacon, I'll do whatever he wants. We'll come to an agreement, you'll see, but leave these people alone.”
Pages 186-187 “It’s too late, little lady, don’t you think? Maybe you didn't hear what I said. It won't be Bacon or I who will get our hands dirty this time. The citizens of New Alamo will do it for us! All we will do is say that terrorists are hiding here and have been sabotaging the water flow to New Alamo for months. It will be easy to mount accusations with false evidence that the People of the Spring wanted to control the flow of water to the city and therefore destroyed the pipes of the dam. All the citizens will side with poor Bacon, and the mayor and will believe them, because their very survival is at stake!”
(Kyowa) “You are full of venom, dude. And you seem to have a perfect plan. An answer for everything. But the truth is like water. It always finds a way to emerge!”
“And who the devil are you? Shut your mouth or I'll silence you forever!”
“I lead this community, and I tell you that we could have reached an agreement from the beginning, but your master wanted to use force right away to gain control over what is not his.”
“Listen carefully. If you and your people are smart, you'll step aside, and Bacon will find you a neighborhood in New Alamo where you can live.”
“Tell him, Nathan. Tell him that you have evidence to incriminate him and Bacon. Real, hard evidence!
“Carolyn, enough. Now let me handle the situation!”
“Evidence? Against me and Bacon? Maybe provided by you, Carolyn? Max Powell's daughter? The daughter of a terrorist bastard? (Page 188 begins) As for you at Alfa… you've been quite a nuisance! Now I have the opportunity to send you to hell, which I'll do with great pleasure!”
(Max the robot appears from the Spring, zapping Frost's men with lightning bolts.) “Leave Carolyn alone… Leave my friends alone!”
“Huh? Agghh!”
